1. Make software programs using different computer languages and tools
2. Work with senior engineers and project managers to understand what the clients want and suggest solutions
3. Check the code written by others and help make it better
4. Find and fix problems in the software
5. Make documents about how the software works
6. Keep up-to-date with new ways of making software
